GSA Insurance Cover Now Available for ATMS Student Members

ATMS is pleased to announce that student members can now access insurance cover for the modalities available to ATMS Accredited members, subject to the insurer’s standard modality-specific endorsements.

Following discussions with our insurance provider, we have received confirmation that student members can obtain cover for all approved ATMS Accredited modalities, excluding Chiropractic, as well as the additional modalities available through the insurer’s quote system.

What does this mean for ATMS students?

Importantly, the insurer has confirmed that students will not be subject to additional student-specific restrictions such as mandatory direct supervision or restrictions limiting treatment to techniques already completed through an RTO.

Students will receive the same insurance rating as fully qualified Accredited members. The insurer has advised that this reflects the increased risk associated with students who are still completing their training.

The usual modality-specific policy endorsements will continue to apply.

Student declaration

The insurer is currently updating its online quote system to include a simple student declaration:

“I confirm I am a student practitioner.”

This declaration will allow the insurer to identify and monitor student policies.

The system update is expected to be completed within approximately one week. In the meantime, student members can still arrange their insurance, with their student status recorded manually by the insurer.

Students should ensure that they only provide treatments within the scope of their education, training and the modalities they are permitted to practise.
