- A united voice for registered Chinese medicine
Dear members,
I am delighted to share six national associations are now working together to advance shared priorities for Australia’s registered Chinese medicine profession and the patients they support.
The participating associations are:
- Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA)
- Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA)
- Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS)
- Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Society of Australia (CMASA)
- Chinese Medicine Industry Council of Australia (CMIC)
- Federation of Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Societies of Australia (FCMA)
Following a meeting in Sydney on 28 September 2026, the six associations collaboratively developed and signed a joint letter to Minister Butler, submitted on 12 October 2026.
The letter seeks progress towards inclusion of registered Chinese medicine practitioners in Medicare chronic condition management arrangements. This is an advocacy request, rather than an announcement of new Medicare eligibility.
The joint initiative reflects the contributions and endorsement of all six associations, bringing together their experience, evidence and member perspectives to strengthen engagement with government.
Kind Regards,
Annie Gibbins
