ATMS offers three kinds of memberships, all with different requirements and benefits: Accredited Membership for practitioners, Associate Membership for non-practitioners, and Student Membership for those on their journey to become a practitioner.

I have not completed an ATMS accredited course - can I still apply?

Yes, you can apply for Accredited Membership without having completed an ATMS Accredited Course. However, we will need additional information from you so we can assess you correctly.

I would like to study natural therapies. Where can I study?

You can find a comprehensive list of colleges listed on our website. All colleges listed here are accredited with ATMS.

However, not all courses delivered by the college may be accredited with ATMS. Once you have decided on which field you would like to study, please check with your college or our office on 1800 456 855 to see if that particular course is accredited.

What are the benefits of being an ATMS member?

ATMS prides itself on being the leading multi-modality natural therapies Association in Australia, supporting more than 20 different therapy types. Further information on membership benefits can be found in the Join ATMS section of the website.

Do we need insurance first before selecting ‘For Publication’?

Yes, you will need insurance if you wish to be advertised on our website.

Which first aid certificate do I need for an accredited membership? Can I provide any type of First Aid certificate?

Your First Aid certificate must meet the requirements below:

  • Must have an RTO code, and
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid listed on the certificate.
  • Must come from an Australian organisation.
Do I need CPE if I am a transfer?

Yes, you still require CPE as a transfer.

What is the time frame allowed before graduation for students registering? Can I apply for a student membership a week before graduation?

Yes, as long as you are still a student you can apply for a student membership.

Do I need to provide my degree and transcript if I am a transfer? If so, do these need to be certified?

Yes, we will always request for a valid JP certified academic certificate and transcript to be provided.

How long after leaving ATMS can I rejoin?

You can rejoin at any time as long as you meet the criteria. Your membership will need to be reassessed, so you will need to fill out a rejoin application form. If you previously received health funds before, there is a possibility you may no longer be eligible for them. This is why we always recommend downgrading your membership to associate level if you are not currently practicing.

Can I get my First Aid certificate in another country, or does it have to be in Australia?

Your First Aid certificate must come from Australia.

Do you accredit veterinary practitioners?

No, we do not accredit veterinary practitioners.

Can you transfer if you have not been with your previous association in a few years?

No, if this is the case you will have to join as an accredited member. We only accept transfers who have submitted a current membership certificate from their previous association.

Can Associate members get health funds?

No, associate members cannot get health funds.

Do I need to be located in Australia in order to become accredited?

You can join ATMS from overseas, as long as your application meets the criteria. You will also need to be insured within the country you are located in, ATMS will not be liable for any issues. If your qualification is from another country, a VETASSES may also be required.

Can I apply from overseas?

Yes, as long as your application meets the criteria.

Do I need CPE points as an associate member?

No, this is one of the perks of becoming an associate member. You do not need to submit CPE, but can enjoy many membership benefits.

What do I need in order to get PII?

Membership number, clinic address, full name

Are CPE points submitted throughout the year, or just at membership renewal?

Throughout the year.

If I transfer from another association, do my CPE points transfer over?

Yes they can transfer over

Can I become a member if my qualification is from overseas?

If they meet the criteria

If I am rejoining after only a few months, do I still need to provide CPE?

Yes, 20 CPE points

Do I need to get my qualifications attested if my college sends them directly to you?

No, this can also be a way to verify your documents if they are sent directly through your college.

How can I advertise my details on your website?

On your accredited application form, you can select For Publication if you wish for your details to be listed under the Find a Practitioner section of our website.

Can I use provider numbers for 2 different associations?

You cannot use provider numbers for 2 different associations. You must choose only one association for the provider number as choosing two associations might conflict with the claim.
