2026 Health Insurance Provider Re-registration & Eligibility Guide

Members are advised that health insurance benefits for selected natural therapies will return in 2026 for:

  • ARHG & CBHS: 1 April 2026
  • Medibank (under consideration): 1 July 2026

The therapies include:

  • Alexander Technique
  • Naturopathy
  • Western Herbal Medicine
  • Shiatsu
  • Yoga
  • Pilates

The ATMS team is currently working behind the scenes to assess all eligible members with these modalities ahead of the 1 April 2026 onboarding.

Required Documents for 2026 April Provider Re‑registration

If you have not already done so, please ensure the following documents are uploaded to the ATMS Member Portal:

  • Professional Indemnity Insurance (minimum $2 million) and Public Liability Insurance (minimum $2 million)
  • Provide First Aid Certificate
  • 20 CPE points for the 2024–2025 period
  • A minimum of 15 CPE points for the 2025–2026 period

Once assessed, members will be submitted to health funds on 1 April 2026 to be issued with new provider numbers.

Maintaining up-to-date documentation is essential to support your eligibility for ARHG and CBHS recognition and re-registration.

Provider Recognition Criteria

ARHG Re-registration Considerations

ARHG

Re‑registration may be considered only for providers who were registered with ARHG prior to 1 April 2019, when Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine were removed from eligibility following the Natural Therapy Review.

Applicants must also meet ARHG’s current requirements relating to continuous practice, CPE, first aid and insurance.

To be eligible, providers must demonstrate that they:

  1. Were active on the ARHG Ancillary Provider List for Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine as at 31 March 2019
  2. Have worked continuously as a Naturopath or in Western Herbal Medicine between 1 April 2019 and 1 July 2025
  3. Have completed 20 hours of CPE in the 12 months immediately prior to being relisted with ARHG
  4. Current First Aid HLTAID011
  5. $2 million Professional indemnity insurance cover
  6. $2 million Public Liability cover

 

CBHS Recognition Criteria

CBHS

Naturopathy

  • Current practitioners (qualified since 01/01/2019): Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) – CRICOS 099643B
  • Previous practitioners (qualified & registered prior to 31/12/2018): HLT60512, HLT60507, HLT60502 – Advanced Diploma or Diploma of Naturopathy

Western Herbal Medicine

  • Current practitioners (qualified since 01/01/2019): Bachelor of Health Science (Western Herbal Medicine) – CRICOS 099641D
  • Previous practitioners (qualified & registered prior to 31/12/2018): HLT60112, HLT60107, HLT60102 – Advanced Diploma or Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine

Shiatsu

  • Recognised qualifications: HLT52215 (current), HLT50212, HLT50207 – Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies
  • Clinical experience: Minimum 200 hours supervised clinic experience

Other Requirements

  • Must hold and maintain membership with a CBHS-recognised professional association
  • Current First Aid HLTAID011 certificate
  • Minimum $2 million Professional Indemnity insurance
  • Minimum $2 million Public Liability insurance
  • Minimum 20 hours CPD annually
