1. What is your role at your organisation and how do you support practitioners /or the industry?

We are the founding directors at NutriPATH, who continue to actively work in/on the business, liaising with and supporting the personalised needs of our referring practitioners whilst providing Australia’s most extensive range of locally available functional pathology tests.

2. How did you get into your area of expertise and why do you stay?

We have each been involved in Australia’s private pathology sector for over 30 years, and as such have a wealth of experience which we readily share with our referring practitioners. Our involvement specifically in Functional Pathology originated in the early 2000’s where we were introduced to an alternative modality of healthcare that clearly made a lot of sense. We have seen our sector of the healthcare industry gain credibility and acceptance over the last 20 years which is very encouraging for the future. However, the ability to have been involved in positively improving peoples’ health through what we do/offer is what motivates us to continue on and provide a stable, convenient and reputable diagnostic service to our supporting practitioners and their patients.

3. What has been the main focus or outcomes of your work over the past year?

As a NATA accredited laboratory, NutriPATH is an essential healthcare organisation through the pandemic period, so the last year has been predominantly focussed on supporting all our practitioners and their patients through these unique and challenging times in

  • easily accessing our range of services,
  • providing continuity of logistics services and
  • also ensuring continuity of our Clinical Support service.

4. How has your field changed in the past 5 years? What new areas are emerging?

We are of the view that practitioner confidence in the use of functional pathology testing has consolidated over this period of time. We see this attributable to

  • the current/up to date education provided by the practitioner educational entities
  • the positive patient healthcare outcomes attained from the use of functional testing
  • having dedicated entities that can provide the recommended products/services that the practitioner training/education delivers

5. What do you predict will happen in the next 5 to 10 years in your particular field?

We feel that the continued and improved acceptance of functional pathology tests will increase over time as more and more research literature and practitioner education comes to the fore.

6. What is the one-way you believe natural medicine practitioners, can make a difference for their clients?

We are of the view that practitioners who are open-minded, yet evidence-based in their selection of provided services, those that keep up to date education-wise and thus overall practising professionally, will gain positive patient healthcare outcomes.
