ATMS announce finalists of the 2021 Natural Medicine Awards

ATMS extends a huge congratulations to all the finalists in our annual Natural Medicine Awards!

 

Twelve finalists have been selected for Practitioner of the Year, Clinic of the Year and Student of the Year. All nominees demonstrated excellence in their contributions to their professions, industry, and overall commitment to the advancement of the health of the Australian community.

 

Winners will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner, on Saturday, 4 December 2021 at Olio Kensington Street Restaurant.  

 

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions tickets are only available to finalists and their community.

 

Special thanks to everyone who entered or nominated in the awards. We had an impressive volume of entrants this year, and we applaud the efforts of every single entrant for their contribution to natural medicine in Australia.

Meet your Practitioner of the Year finalists:

Angela Maree Smith
Naturopath
Melbourne Natural Medicine Clinic

Angela has been practicing Naturopathy in Melbourne for over a decade. She is passionate about fusing bio medical science and diagnostic testing with nature’s herbs and nutrients to restore health and wellness to the body. Angela has a balanced approach to life, she loves to cook using food as medicine, educating clients on how to eat and exercise for wellness yet still maintain the joy and satisfaction that we love about food and living.

 

Angela is also passionate about educating people on nutrition and natural medicine for a wide variety focus groups, including anxiety, fertility, IVF and children’s health.

Brittany Darling
Nutritionist and Herbalist
Whole Food Healing

Brittany Darling is an accredited nutritionist and herbalist with over 8 years’ experience. She runs workshops, develops products, collaborates with brands and is an expert contributor in the media across multiple publications including The Grace Tales, One Fine Baby, Sporteluxe, Body and Soul, Gourmet Traveller + more. 

 

Over the past 8 years, Brittany has seen a range of different clients and conditions. Since becoming a mum, she has turned her focus to paediatric nutrition, as well as preconception, fertility optimisation, IVF support, pregnancy, lactations and post-natal nutrition.

I’m often called the Weed lady due to my love of using weeds to help heal. I have written eight books on weeds, herbs and natives and practical ways of using them.  I also love teaching, doing talks and lectures and have been doing this through TAFE, Outreach WEA and privately for the past thirty years.

 

24 years ago we opened up the Total Health and Education Centre so I could practice as a Herbalist and a place to display and sell my wide range of herbal products.  I have taught thousands of students and they along with customers and clients buy my products.  We have also got a thriving mail business.

 

THE Centre is home to many Practitioners and also to my staff who work to help the people of the Upper Hunter and further afield.

 

Personally, I qualified in 1989 as a Herbalist and have done further courses to qualify as an Iridologist, Reflexologist and Clinical Hypnotherapist.  I am a Board member of Estuary Learning and a Vice President and Treasurer for Indigenous Plants for Health Association.  I live with my husband on a bush block surrounded by Wollemi National Park at Martindale near Denman.  I have two children and two gorgeous grand daughters.

She believes in combining all her skills, training and 22 years of experience into incredible healing retreats, one to one consultations, Womens Circle & healing workshops to offer a truly well-rounded experience to propel her client’s lives forward in BIG ways. Meet your student finalists:

Emily Fidirikkos
Torrens University, QLD

Emily studied a Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Nutrition) at Torrens University in Queensland. During her time at student clinic, she was able to bring a number of clients and produced great results for each of them. She participated in various on campus activities such as nutrition workshops and had a cooking segment that was run live across the campus.

 

Emily is passionate about providing people with expert knowledge to heal their bodies and optimise their health, using food as medicine!

Kylie is currently studying an Advanced Diploma of Clinical Nutrition and Advanced Diploma of Clinical Naturopathy at Nature Care College. Kylie is dedicated to her studies and practice, and always strives to provide the highest level of care for her clients.

 

She is bold in her functional testing and spends time researching the results so she can provide well-rounded information to her clients.

Felix studied a Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was Chairperson for the Student Representative Group for two and half years where he was responsible for advocating for students on campus.

 

Felix has shown great commitment to his clients aiming to provide them with the highest level of care to ensure their ailments are managed effectively.

Heather Kereopa
O’Neill College

Heather will complete her Advanced Diploma of Kinesiology at the end of 2021. She runs a successful Clinic at her house, Beyond Bliss Kinesiology, and has a loyal client base. Heather always goes above and beyond in preparing for client sessions to ensure she is able to provide the highest level of care by understanding exactly what they need. Heather is highly dedicated to learning all she can about kinesiology which is allows her to provide highly positive changes to her clients.
