ADVERTISEMENTS
Members must exercise care in the wording of advertisements. The Department
of Fair Trading and the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission
have prosecuted practitioners for making claims in advertisements
that could not be substantiated. If a member is unsure about what
to say in advertising, contact the ATMS head office on (02) 9809 6800.
Advertisements for life threatening conditions, or acute
conditions that could be life threatening, must never be made. Such
advertisements may be interpreted as false and misleading and a brecah
of the Code of Conduct.
Veterinarians are a registered profession for the treatment of animals, and members must never use this term.

ATMS DIRECTORY
The ATMS Directory lists all accredited financial practitioner members throughout Australia and New Zealand. It is distributed free to members of the public through health stores, colleges, government departments, libraries, exhibitions etc. The ATMS Directory is an excellent free professional advertising service for members.
The ATMS Directory is also available on the ATMS website
as Finding
a Practitioner..
The ATMS Directory is circulated in September of each year, and the Directory lists members who were current for the previous financial year. Members are listed according to state, modality and clinic suburb/s with telephone number/s. Addresses are not printed.
All entries for the Directory close on 30 June of each year. After this date only minor changes can be made eg new telephone numbers. Please notify us as early as possible if you have any changes to your details.
Please note that you will need to become a member before 30 June to be listed in the Directory for that year.
Only qualifications which are full diplomas or equivalent from ATMS accredited courses can be added to your modalities. Check with the ATMS office or in the ATMS Directory for full listings of recognised modalities and courses. If new modalities are recognised members will be notified via the Journal of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society.

ATMS LOGO , USE OF
Members can use the ATMS logo in advertising or on business card. However the logo must not appear or be used for any therapy for which a member does not have ATMS accreditation.
For example, a member must not advertise ATMS accredited
in Remedial Massage and reiki as this gives the impression that the
member is accredited with ATMS for reiki, but reiki is not accredited
by ATMS. Such advertising could be a brecah of the Code of Conduct.
The ATMS logo cannot be used on advertisements for therapeutic devices, as ATMS does not accredit therapeutic devices.

CERTIFICATES OF ADVERTISING EXEMPTION
New Certificates of Advertising Exemption are issued each year in late December for the new year. Only practitioners having accreditation in an ingestive (i.e. Herbs, Nutrition, Naturopathy etc.) therapy are entitled to the certificate.
The ATMS membership certificates are upgraded each year by means of a sticker which is sent with the receipt for renewal. A new certificate is not issued.
