TCM has been legislated in Australia since 1st of July, 2012 under AHPRA and has become one of the health services along with medical, physiotherapy and chiropractic. However, how many TCM practitioners are confident they are doing as well as the other practitioners under AHPRA?
We firmly believe that TCM and acupuncture are a form of natural therapies that can help our patients effectively.
So what is wrong with us? Can we only blame the government that we are not under Medicare cover?
It is not really so. Actually it is the communication skills that are largely responsible for this happening.
The majority of us are from non-Australian backgrounds. There is a problem as to how to interact effectively with our patients. It’s about “makes” or “breaks”. Good communication skills may allow our patients to gain confidence with us, while communication breakdowns can lead to serious problems. The trust and confidence of the patients with us could break, which may lead to the clinical outcome being undesirable.
In this webinar, I will identify some of the most common communication problems in our clinical practice and discuss some of the approaches to solving these problems.
